Police arrest 262 suspects, rescue 27 kidnapped victims nationwide

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested 262 suspected criminals, rescued 27 kidnapped victims and recovered 34 firearms and 375 rounds of unrecorded ammunition during nationwide operations betwixt September 5 and 11, 2026.

Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Aniete Iniedu, disclosed this connected Sunday, saying the operations besides led to the betterment of 11 vehicles and the neutralisation of 11 equipped suspects crossed assorted commands and tactical formations.

He said the suspects were arrested successful transportation with alleged offences including kidnapping, equipped robbery, murder, banditry, cultism, quality trafficking, cause peddling and vandalism.

According to the Force headquarters, 50 homicide incidents, 28 equipped robbery cases, 10 cultism-related incidents, 8 gender-based unit cases, 27 kidnapping incidents, 22 banditry incidents and 5 terrorism-related incidents were recorded during the period.

In Delta State, constabulary rescued a 60-year-old kidnapped victim, Nduka Omoyi, pursuing a weapon duel with his abductors, portion successful Ebonyi State, operatives rescued a Methodist clergyman, Ndulo Amofia, aft helium was allegedly abducted by 2 equipped men.
