A Kebbi State High Court sitting successful Birnin Kebbi has sentenced 3 women to 14 years’ imprisonment each for transgression conspiracy, abetment and belonging to a pack of brigands.
The convictions followed their proceedings implicit allegations that they supplied food, drinks and different items to equipped bandits operating successful Shanga Local Government Area of the state.
Delivering judgment, Justice Hassan Shehu Kuwwa held that the prosecution proved its lawsuit beyond tenable uncertainty against the second, 3rd and 4th defendants, portion acquitting the archetypal defendant, Aisha Abubakar.
The convicted women, Jamila Sule, Ramatu Habibu and Zara’u Abdulkarim, were recovered blameworthy of transgression conspiracy, abetment and belonging to a pack of brigands nether the Kebbi State Penal Code Law, 2021.
According to the prosecution, the offences were committed connected December 14, 2023, astatine Sabon Gari Hills Forest successful Shanga Local Government Area, wherever the defendants allegedly aided equipped bandits by supplying them with Indian hemp, foodstuffs and brushed drinks.
