Four terrorists convicted over Owo Catholic Church attack

The Federal High Court successful Abuja has convicted 4 retired of the 5 accused persons enactment connected proceedings by the Department of State Services, DSS, implicit the June 5, 2022 onslaught connected Saint Francis Catholic Church, Owo, successful Ondo State.

Forty-three worshipers were killed successful the attack.

Five accused persons were enactment connected proceedings by the DSS for alleged complicity successful the transgression but lone 4 were convicted.

The 4 convicted persons are Idris Abdulmalik Omeiza, 25, Al Qasim Idris, 20, Jamiu Abdulmalik, 26 and Abdulhaleem Idris, 25.

Momoh Otuho Abubakar, 47, was discharged and acquitted.

In the nine-count coercion charge, the DSS the DSS accused the convicts of being members of overseas panic groups and being liable for the Owo massacre.

In his judgment, Justice Emeka Nwite pronounced them guilty.

The judgement is inactive ongoing.
