Court adjourns Shinkafi’s suit over Zamfara North APC primary

The Federal High Court successful Gusau has adjourned the suit filed by an All Progressives Congress, APC, senatorial aspirant, Abdullahi Shinkafi, challenging the result of the party’s Zamfara North Senatorial District superior predetermination to July 28 for the adoption of last written addresses.

Justice Hassan Dikko fixed the caller day on Tuesday after ruling connected affidavits, counter-affidavits and preliminary objections filed by the parties successful the suit.

Shinkafi is challenging the result of the APC senatorial superior held connected May 19, which produced the incumbent legislator representing Zamfara North, Sahabi Ya’u, arsenic the party’s campaigner for the 2027 wide election.

The plaintiff alleged that the superior predetermination was marred by irregularities and conducted successful usurpation of the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended), the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, guidelines and the APC’s electoral procedures.

Counsel to the plaintiff, Bello Galadi, told the tribunal that his lawsuit was dissatisfied with the behaviour of the primary, alleging that the predetermination results were written by officials who conducted the exercise.
