
With the rainy play intensifying and flood risks mounting nationwide, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has urged communities to wide drainage channels, halt dumping discarded successful waterways, relocate from flood-prone areas, and heed aboriginal informing advisories to forestall avoidable disasters.
Director General of NEMA, Mr Zubaida Umar, gave the proposal successful Yobe State.
She said the 2026 Seasonal Climate Prediction and Annual Flood Outlook bespeak heightened flood risks crossed Nigeria, including parts of Yobe that person historically suffered displacement, farmland loss, and infrastructure damage.
