Akwa Ibom: Police arrest suspect with 36 stolen phones

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has re-arrested a suspected receiver and distributor of stolen mobile phones, identified arsenic Musa Idris, aft recovering 36 phones believed to beryllium linked to robbery operations.

Speaking during a property briefing astatine the Command Headquarters successful Uyo on Wednesday, the Commissioner of Police, Baba Azare, said the fishy was apprehended on the Calabar–Itu Road pursuing credible intelligence. The recovered items included 34 Android phones and 2 fastener phones.

According to the commissioner, investigations revealed that Idris had antecedently been arrested successful October 2025 for offences related to equipped robbery and possession of much than 200 suspected stolen phones.

Azare stated “that the findings suggest the recovered devices were proceeds of equipped robbery activities carried retired by transgression groups operating wrong and extracurricular Akwa Ibom State”.
