Abia, Imo sweep medals as South-East Open Weightlifting Championship begins

The inaugural South-East Zonal Open Weightlifting Championship, hosted by Abia State, has commenced, with the big state, Abia, and Imo State winning golden medals successful antithetic categories.

Abia has won 4 golden and 2 metallic medals, Imo- 2 golden and 1 silver, Anambra- 3 metallic medals, Ebonyi State- 2 metallic medals, portion Enugu State has won 1 bronze medal.

Results obtained by DAILY POST from the Abia State Sports Council showed that successful the 49kg pistillate category, Anthony Onyenaobi Chidiamara of Imo State won golden with a full assistance of 72kg, portion Friday Maribel of Ebonyi State and Sunday Rejoice of Abia State won metallic and bronze, respectively, with lifts of 65kg and 62kg.

Nwokeleme Chikodi of Imo State won golden with a full assistance of 92kg, up of Cynthia Lawrence of Abia State, who made a full assistance of 70kg to triumph silver.

In the 65kg antheral category, Innocent Onyedikachi of Abia State won golden with a full assistance of 240kg, beating Chukwuka Morka of Anambra State, who lifted 180kg, and Bassey Angelo of Enugu State, who lifted 125kg.
