ICPC ignoring El-Rufai’s bail request – Aide raises alarm

Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, remains successful detention arsenic the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, has yet to enactment connected his bail application, his media adjutant has revealed.

In a statement, Muyiwa Adekeye said it has been 8 days since El-Rufai honoured an invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, connected February 16, 2026.

He was initially detained by the EFCC earlier being transferred to ICPC custody 2 days later.

Adekeye noted that contempt submitting a ceremonial bail petition aft interrogation, the erstwhile governor’s ineligible squad has yet to person immoderate effect from the commission.

He stressed that nary remand bid has been presented to warrant the continued detention, adjacent arsenic the law 48 hours bounds for holding a fishy without complaint has since passed.

In a related development, El-Rufai has challenged the legality of a hunt carried retired astatine his Abuja residence by ICPC officials.
