Ekiti Guber Poll: Appeal Court affirms Oluyede as PDP candidate

The Court of Appeal sitting successful Akure has affirmed Dr. Wole Oluyede arsenic the duly nominated governorship campaigner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election.

In a unanimous judgement delivered connected Thursday, the three-member appellate sheet acceptable speech the earlier ruling of the Federal High Court successful Ado-Ekiti which had nullified the party’s superior election.

The panel, led by Justice Peter Chudi Obiorah and comprising Justices Jane Esienanwan Inyang and Peter O. Affen, held that the PDP superior predetermination that produced Oluyede was valid and conducted successful compliance with the party’s constitution and the provisions of the Electoral Act.

The tribunal specifically affirmed that the superior predetermination organised by the National Working Committee, NWC, led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki was lawful, transparent and decently conducted.

The Federal High Court successful Ado-Ekiti had connected January 13, 2026, nullified the Ekiti PDP governorship superior held connected November 8 and 9, 2025.

Dissatisfied with the judgment, the PDP filed an appeal, asking the appellate tribunal to overturn the determination of the little court.
